About me

Welcome….

I am Chris… and I like to create things. I am a Designer and Developer based out of New York City/Miami who strives to infuse all things Web and Design into an honest and inventive experience. My spirited approach has been successfully applied to a diverse range of projects for international brands. Some of these include HelpMeSee Inc, Habitat for Humanity, Fresh Concentrate LLC, Millicom (TIGO) Telecommunications & Media, The Ryan Network; and some Bolivian brands as well such as ELFEC, PIL Andina S.A. and Bolhispania S.A. See a selected list of clients here.

I put heart, logic and intelligence into the ideas of everything I do – both as a member of a team and as a creative leader, pushing the envelope to create work that is characteristic, engaging and responsive. I work in all stages of brand development processes such as visual identity design, editorial design, packaging, website design, corporate communication and art direction. With these multi disciplines and array of experience, I am able to offer a multitude of skills to my clients or employers.

I am also an avid collector of comics my whole life. I grew up in New York City but graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design from The Private University of Bolivia in 2006. Much like a kid who grew up in the 80’s and 90’s: Afternoon cartoons, camping trips in the summer with the family, hot dogs, sugar coated cereals, baseball cards, Bruce Tim animations, comics and Superman, unwittingly did I know that these would set the pace and inspire my work in Art, Design and Volunteering. These multi disciplinary design skills enabled me to taste most facets of Design which in turn enabled me to assume positions in leadership roles and as an educator as well. I noticed that my early obsessions became what I most wanted to do and discovered at an early age, that I was a loving geek at heart that loved to create art and help others.

From my love for aesthetic design and passion for functionality and structure I know my abilities will constantly evolve. So, if it’s a Designer you want and a Developer you need, my goals are to keep things simple and create the content that conveys your message across the mediums and devices that latest technology has to offer.

Ready. Set. Done.

The way I approach a project is understanding a client’s requirements. Understanding the personality of their brand, their voice, objectives and I evaluate the competition to ensure a creative difference is established. This 4 step process is detailed as followed:

1. Research and gather intel of the present state.
2. Streamline structure and content of the venture.
3. Conceptualization and strategy planning.
4. Create, evaluate and interpret deliverables.

From photo editing to designing interfaces for mobile devices, jumping into advanced Photoshop and prototyping with Adobe XD are just a few of the steps I take to further my skill- set and strengthen my concept framework. So... welcome. This site is easy to navigate and easily responds to your commands. If you have any doubts, don’t feel shy and hit me with a message. I’m glad you stopped by.  - CJ

Experiences

Experience and Persistence trumps Talent

With over 20 years invested in Design; from Film to Image, Publication to Web and from Design to Management, I have worked across the board with a range of different disciplines that vary from identity design, interactive design, programming services and printed matters. Contact me, so we can discuss your needs, new projects and to learn more about my design process. I emphasise the importance of a good dialogue to ensure you are prospecting a hard working and high quality designer that fits your specific needs. I have constructed myself entirely as a Designer, but I also took it further and branched out to gain hard earned on the field experience in Business, Management and Academia.

When I was in school, and subsequently later in the job market, I was instilled with the pragmatic notion that there are rules to which graphic design must adhere and apply certain rules to. Yeah right, that’s just not true anymore. Interactive Design now speaks to computer interaction, content, architecture and most importantly... people.

Teamwork is Seamless Design

I like to consider myself a high performance Designer, and although I like to consider that I’ve have reached a large scale with my past endeavours, the outstanding teams that I have had the honor to be a part of and worked with helped guide me to become the hard working person I am today. The following is a complete breakdown with whom I worked with to create the pieces displayed in the portfolio above.
